Spectacular hundred year bloom blankets National Trail in Phoenix South Mountain Park

In September 2014, the Phoenix area experienced a rain event that spawned what some meteorologists referred to as a “hundred-year flood.” It even trapped people in their cars on Interstates 10 & 17.

Low and behold, a week after the hundred year rain, another one of similar proportion soaked the region.

While some homeowners were devastated by the damage done to their properties, hikers were awestruck by the carpets of flowers that appeared on the mountains in South Mountain Park and other open spaces.
