Refurbished South Mountain Pima Canyon Trailhead in Phoenix now open


City of Phoenix officials announced today it has reopened the Pima Canyon Trailhead parking area in South Mountain Park. The area was closed to the public in August 2017 for renovation.

Facts about refurbished Pima Canyon access point:

  • $1.8 million renovation completed January 19, 2018
  • New security lighting, restrooms and ramadas
  • Road and lot repaving and striping
  • More parking spaces
  • Access to xx trails for hiking and biking

On average, Pima Canyon, located off 48th Street near Guadalupe, sees between 200,000 and 250,000 users each year, making it one of the most popular trailheads at South Mountain.
